Should I Trap Raccoons Myself?

We do not recommend conducting raccoon trapping yourself, as not only is it dangerous, but it could be illegal depending on where you live. In most cases, it is illegal to trap and relocate the raccoon, and it must be euthanized on-site. Raccoons are one of the hardest animals in the US to trap due to their intelligence. But, let us say if it is legal to trap and release raccoons in your area, and you caught one. Now you will need the landowners’ permission to release the raccoon on their property. Not only that, but when you do release, you will be very close to a scared, and an agitated raccoon who will not hesitate to attack you when you get close. Now you have to worry about rabies and other diseases, or injuries from a raccoon attack.

If you need a raccoon trapped in your home or property, please call us at Xceptional Wildlife. Our technicians are experienced professionals and know how to trap raccoons effectively and safely.

How Do We Do Raccoon Trapping?

Raccoon Trapping is something we do a lot here at Xceptional Wildlife. First, we determine where the raccoon or raccoons frequent at the property. Then we set up our cages with bait in the area. We do this for 5 days checking every 24 hours, and then we will remove the animals according to the California Fish and Game Laws. Our Technicians will have the proper safety equipment to protect themselves from bites and scratches and are trained in handling raccoons and their dangers. After this, our technicians will install one way doors to make sure that any remaining raccoons will not be able to get back in. After assessing that they are all gone the technicians will repair the damages to the home caused by the raccoons trying to get in.

Our methods here at Xceptional are designed to give the least amount of stress for the homeowner and the animal while being as cost effective as we can to insure both those standards are met.
